I have no one to read this yet, but I am coming to realize that the important thing, to any endeavor by which one wishes to make a living, is marketing. People have to know you exist. Art aside, it takes work to become known. Ed Hardy sells 60 dollar shirts because they are edgy, someone had to spend the time to spread his name. Marketing is a full time job for anyone. What do you do when you have a kid, have to create art (I mean HAVE to for sanity's sake), and need to market? Start Somewhere. Well, I need more work that I love. I have a lot of work that I hate... So I have to make more and scan and upload and do it for every single site there is. Facebook, Myspace, here, ArtBistro... and the beat goes on.....
So here is my question.... Can and artist become famous because of networking? Has it happened? We've heard of singers, models, actors... Has there been an artist? If so I haven't heard (which may not mean much since I am just now starting to really work at this) but I have heard of Tila Tequila and that woman from Britain who was judged for her looks, but sang so beautifully....
Maybe we can become a team of artists of the future, provide free designs for myspace when you visit our site or free graphics...something to make us huge!
I say ready set go!!!!
